My homelab is a project that has been growing in scope since I first built a computer to run a minecraft server for my siblings many years ago. Drawing inspiration from forums such as r/homelab and r/selfhosted, over time I have expanded beyond a single small computer to several enterprise-grade rack servers. Through virtualization, I have been able to host all kinds of services, some of which include:
- Streams of Prayer website
- Monopoly Simulator website
- YT Clips website
- Home Assistant for Home Automation purposes
- Multiple game servers for friends and family
- Media servers
- Video and chat servers
- Gitea as a git mirror and CI/CD platform
- Much more
While sometimes a source of stress, my homelab has been a fantastic playground to explore different technologies and learn the basics of networking and security. I have enjoyed it so much I have given a talk about why you should consider homelabbing as well.
